Really really free market how-to steps

  • Choose 1 or more people to lead the planning of the RRFM
  • Choose a location
    • Gain permission from the land owner
    • Choose an accessible location for your target audience
  • Choose a date
    • Pick a date and time that is appropriate for your target audience
  • Create social media presence
    • An event page that will reach your target audience and potential participants
    • Solicit participants through posts (folks who want to attend to provide items for free)
    • Encourage participants and patrons to save the date!
  • Create a registration form for participants  - suggested free platforms: Google Forms or Signup Genius
    • This will help you organize the space
    • Know how many participants to expect
    • Gather contact information for communication with participants
    • Example HERE
  • Market your RRFM - to get the word out and encourage participation
    • Create a flyer and share with the community
    • Encourage participants to share the social media pages and flyers
    • Reach out to local businesses, nonprofit organizations, schools, churches, etc and share the information on your event
  • Provide a set of guidelines for your event
    • You are welcome to use our Guidelines HERE
    • *If you would like Plastic Free Delaware to partner on your event, you must follow our guidelines

Tips -

*Communication is essential for encouraging the community to show up!

  • Communicate updates and plans with registered participants
  • Send out electronic reminders to the community the week before and the day before the event
  • Display yard signs (homemade signs work well!) around the event area to direct folks toward the RRFM
