NEXT SITE AT Carousel Park gearing up!

If you live in the Limestone Road area, join us!

Come visit us at the Carousel Park Farmers Market every Friday from 2-6 p.m. to learn more AND get started this summer by subscribing to our food scrap drop off program at the farmers market.  For interest in becoming a member of the Carousel project, sign up here to be kept abreast of the launch.  We anticipate an early 2027 grant opening.


In the meantime, visit us at the Carousel Farmers Market every Friday from 2-6 p.m. to learn more AND to subscribe to our food scrap drop off program at the farmers market.  For a $10 subscription you get your very own lidded food scrap bucket to gather your household food scraps (see list of allowable materials below) and transport them to the farmers market (available every other week).  Each drop is $5.


Only the following items will be accepted for drop off at the farmers market:

  • Fruit and vegetable scraps (plant based food scraps - raw, cooked, over the hill)
  • Eggshells
  • Nuts & nutshells
  • Coffee grounds and paper filters 
  • Tea leaves and bags without staples 
  • Small amounts of leaves, cardboard
  • Wine corks

DElaware Community Composting Initiative Sites

We are currently working with  partners throughout Delaware to establish composting programs:


  • Talley Day Park Community Composting Project
    • This site is open to members for food scrap composting (WAITING LIST CURRENTLY)
    • It has a source-separated food-scrap DNREC  composting permit

  • Claymont Community Center Market & Garden
    • This site was officially launched in June 2026 and serves only the internal use of the CCC market and its food residuals


  • The Nest
    • This site was constructed in June 2023 by Eagle Scout, Colby Wilson
    • It is used only for composting crop residuals from the attached community garden


  • Community Garden partners - funding donated by Delmarva Power to partner with community gardens institute best practices to compost garden residuals.

    • 4th & Orange Community Garden
    • Sparrow Run Community Garden


  • Sites currently in development or permitting phase:

    • Peach Street Community Garden
    • Warner Elementary

Our community composting program is modeled after similar programs in Washington D.C., Lancaster, PA, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, NYC, and Baltimore.
